Ministries
Children's Ministry
Ministry with children is invaluable to the work we do as a church. At Thalia UMC, we remember Jesus’ teaching and example when it comes to our care for children. This is why we have an active ministry that is focused on fostering a community that places a high priority on shaping the lives of young people who are showing us what the Kingdom of God looks like today. We are committed to welcoming children of all ages into the family of faith at our church.
NURSERY
Our paid nursery staff offers loving care for children from birth through kindergarten on Sunday mornings. We offer childcare for special events when needed.
SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday school is offered for children in preschool in the nursery and for children in K–5th grade in the upstairs wing. We offer a well-rounded program with Bible lessons, games, music, and snacks.
CHILDREN’S CHURCH
We offer Children’s Church at the 10 a.m. service every Sunday.
CHILDREN’S EVENTS
Monthly Events Returning Soon
We offer two fellowship events each month on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month. There are also annual events that include the Easter Egg Hunt, Spring Fiesta, Holy Ghost Weenie Roast, and Mission Week in the summer.
Youth Ministry
The time between the beginning of middle school and the end of high school is unique for every young person and their families. Just as there are particular challenges that go with being a youth today, we offer unique ministries for young people in middle and high school. Thalia UMC’s ministry with youth reflects our commitment to welcome people of all ages as we lead individuals into a deeper relationship with God. Serving God through missions, growing in study, and meeting God in worship are vital components of our work with youth as they build a community of mutual support.
"Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms."
Missions at Thalia UMC
Missions at Thalia UMC are driven by our understanding of God’s love revealed through Jesus Christ, who came to serve and not be served. By using the philosophy of "service" rather than what "serves us," we seek to have our faith flourish by cultivating opportunities to serve people in our local community and abroad. We invite you to explore the many opportunities found at Thalia UMC on this webpage below.

The final definitions of fundraisers and overlapping events (as of December 2017)
Fundraisers are events to raise money through the sale or collection of items.
Overlapping events are any events or fundraisers that are scheduled at the same time and take focus away from each other while using the church building either inside or outside. Events that are considered overlapping should be held two weeks apart, with the first event submitted on the website and approved taking precedence. There should be no piggybacking from another group or organization in order to draw more attention to it for whatever purpose, unless there is a mutual agreement or an immediate emergency need. This pertains to organizations outside our congregation as well.
