A Note from Pastor Art

"Good-Bye, Good Friends"

God called Vicki and me as servants to Thalia United Methodist Church. During the past four years I have been your pastor, administrator, and spiritual leader. Vicki has offered her ministry with you as the President of United Methodist Women. We have witnessed great and wonderful ministries God has provided for Thalia. We are grateful for our time together as we have learned many things to help us in our new appointment. A few weeks ago, the Thalia Singers presented, "Eyes of Faith." The narration read echoed the point, "Jesus wasn't interested in their agenda, but God's agenda." Wow, what a prophetic statement! If we believe and do this, great days are ahead for Thalia. Servant ministry is grounded in God's agenda, not ours. Perhaps we need to look with our hearts and not closed eyes, and see the vision God has for Thalia.

The Kay Owens Memorial Choir presented, "Come Touch the Robe." They also reinforced the message to be a "servant humble and meek". What a wonderful reminder to give praise to the King of Kings.

I could say so much more but, instead, I ask you to pray for the Goodpasture family as they minister with you. Keep the faith, wash some feet, and support each other. Read what the Bible says about the fruits of the spirit in Galatians 5:22-23. Always remember: the people of God are called to take part in what God is doing. This is our response to be the people God calls to ministry.

Vicki and I thank you for your prayers, support, and kind words. May you remember that our choices determine our future.

In closing, I share this prayer written by our deceased friend Debbie in December of 1987:

Debbie's Prayer

There is a person within each of us that strives to love and be loved.

God that we would live from this place within ourselves.

The world would be a better place...

People would be viewed as warm wondrous beings with the ability to grow and change.

God that we would see our peers and loved ones this way.

The World would be a better place...

Help us God to let go of our judgments, to be free of bitterness and limiting thoughts.

We are each gifts unto each other.

AMEN
