TUMC Disaster Relief Team
PLEASE HELP!!! At this time we do not have a team in place. We are currently looking for individuals with all backgrounds of expertise to join our team in the case of a disaster. This team will serve as a voluntary on call team. In the case of an emergency any willing volunteers will meet to assess and aid the community by focusing our efforts. If you would like to be on the calling list please contact any of the Disaster Relief staff!
District Relief and the VOAD
The United Methodist Church has partnered up with the Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) to coordinate our relief efforts in the event of a local disaster. There are two main documents that outline our structure in the event of a disaster. These are the "TUMC Local Disaster Plan" and the "Conference Disaster Plan". Our local team operates under these guidelines.
The American Red Cross
Thalia United Methodist Church has also partnered with The American Red Cross. Our local facility may be used by the Red Cross as a shelter in the event of a local disaster. This means we may house local victims or partner with other larger local shelters as a shelter resource. The outline of this effort is described in the "TUMC American Red Cross Memorandum".
